How the Slack integration works

The RoadmapAI Slack integration listens to the channels you choose and turns everyday conversations into structured feature requests — no copy-pasting, no context-switching. When a teammate, customer-facing colleague, or support rep mentions a product idea, pain point, or request in Slack, our AI reads the message, recognizes it as feedback, and routes it into your RoadmapAI workspace as a draft request.

Here's the flow at a glance:

1. 1 Connect a channel. Add the RoadmapAI app to any public or private channel where product ideas come up — #feature-requests, #customer-feedback, #support-escalations, or your team's general channel.
2. 2 AI detects intent. Each message is analyzed for feedback signals. Casual chatter is ignored; genuine requests, bug reports, and improvement ideas are captured.
3. 3 Requests are structured. The integration extracts the core ask, summarizes it, and tags the requester and source channel so nothing loses context.
4. 4 You review and triage. Captured items land in RoadmapAI for you to merge duplicates, prioritize, and link to roadmap items — all from one place.

• React to capture. Add a designated emoji to any message and RoadmapAI files it as a feature request instantly.
• Use the message shortcut. Click "Send to RoadmapAI" from any message's actions menu to push it into your workspace with one tap.
• Automatic detection. Let the AI monitor selected channels and surface requests on its own, so you catch feedback even when no one remembers to log it.
• Slash command. Type /roadmap to submit a new request directly, complete with title and description, without ever opening the app.

Every captured request keeps a link back to the original Slack message, so you always have the full conversation and can follow up with the person who raised it.

Keep your team in the loop with status updates

Capturing requests is only half the loop. RoadmapAI sends updates back into Slack so the people who raised feedback know it was heard and see what happens next.

• Confirmation replies. When a request is captured, RoadmapAI can reply in-thread to confirm it's been logged.
• Status change notifications. As a request moves from Under review to Planned, In progress, or Shipped, the integration posts an update to the relevant channel.
• Roadmap announcements. Share newly planned and recently shipped items to a channel of your choice to keep stakeholders aligned.

Setting up the Slack integration

Connecting Slack to RoadmapAI takes just a few minutes:

1. 1 Open Integrations in RoadmapAI. Go to your workspace settings and select Integrations → Slack.
2. 2 Authorize the app. Click Connect to Slack and approve the requested permissions for your Slack workspace.
3. 3 Choose your channels. Pick which channels RoadmapAI should monitor for feature requests and where it should post status updates.
4. 4 Set your capture rules. Decide whether to capture requests automatically, by emoji reaction, by shortcut, or all three.
5. 5 Invite the app. Add the RoadmapAI app to each selected channel so it can read and reply to messages.

You stay in control of which channels are connected and can adjust permissions or disconnect at any time from your integration settings.
